With Carl Woodward, Greenwood Trustee and Avid Birdwatcher
The National Audubon Society’s Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is the
world’s longest-running citizen science survey in which volunteer birdwatchers
throughout North America take a census of wild bird sightings. For the
fourth year in a row, Greenwood will serve as a survey site. Participants will
seek out the birds that winter here and findings will be reported to the
Watchung Ridge Count and ultimately, to the annual report of North American
bird sightings. Meet in the Cottage Parking Lot by 12:00 p.m. Basic bird
identification knowledge helpful but not necessary. Dress warmly, with sturdy
footwear and good gloves. Bring binoculars and bird guides. Cameras welcome. Rain
or shine.
